Always check if the immigration consultant is registered with the College of Immigration and Citizenship Consultants (CICC) or the Government of Canada website. Even if the individual has a diploma from an Immigration Practitioner Program or a Graduate Diploma Program, they may still not be a licensed Canadian immigration consultant
Immigration consultant or immigration lawyer?
Canadian immigration law mandates qualified assistance, recognizing professionals accredited by provincial law societies, the Chambre des notaires du Québec, and the College of Immigration and Citizenship Consultants (CICC, formerly ICCRC). These professionals are authorized to represent applicants with Immigration, Refugee, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). Additionally, RCIC-IRB professionals are authorized to represent clients before the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada (IRB).
